Late June completion

Realignment project set to begin in Coldstream

Work on the Kidston Road realignment project in Coldstream will get underway in early May.

The District of Coldstream has retained the construction services of Pyramid Excavating to complete the project.

Kidston Road, near the Red Gate, may be reduced to single-lane alternating traffic to accommodate construction of the new Red Gate Parking Lot and realignment of Kidston Road.

Chief Administrative Officer Trevor Seibel told Vernon Matters back in December the $430,000 project will shift the road to the west and closer to the lake, right by the red gate at Kal Lake Provincial Park.

“The plan is to construct a proper parking area in order to make it safer for the park users and the traffic on the road,” said Seibel. “BC Parks approval was needed as we plan to use approximately 430 square meters inside the park for the parking lot.”

Intermittent single-lane traffic interruptions may occur between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday to Friday in May and June.

A 30 km/hr construction speed zone will be in effect.

The project is expected to be completed by late June.

Drivers are asked to obey all signage and traffic flaggers within the construction zone.
