RCMP hold processions to show support for health care workers

Mar 28, 2020 | 2:47 AM

RCMP in Kelowna are among the latest to show their appreciation to health care workers for their heroic efforts during the Covid-19 crisis.

“On Saturday March 28 and Sunday March 29, frontline officers of the Kelowna RCMP are planning on forming a procession from the Kelowna RCMP Detachment, westbound on Clement Avenue, southbound on Water Street and along Pandosy Street past Kelowna General Hospital before dispersing to their duties. This procession is planned to begin at approximately 7:30 p.m. both evenings,” said Cpl. Jocelyn Noseworthy, media relations officer.

The procession will see RCMP using marked police vehicles with the emergency lights activated and sirens “chirping”.

“This event has been inspired by the utmost respect, admiration, and appreciation the Kelowna RCMP have for our health care professionals who have been tasked with a difficult job during the challenges of the pandemic of COVID-19,” said Cpl. Michael Kube of the Kelowna RCMP. “We wanted to show our support for everything they are doing for our community.”
