Outages still affect some in Okanagan, Shuswap
Despite BC Hydro crews’ continued efforts, some customers remain without power in the Okanagan and Shuswap.
BC Hydro’s website shows small pockets of customers still without heat and light in the Vernon area and a few in Lumby but Spallumcheen appears to be free of outages at present.
A larger number of customers in the Shuswap region are suffering, with the website showing some have been without power since the big snowstorm on Dec. 31.
A BC Hydro statement on its website states: “Crews made good progress overnight and restoration efforts will continue today. Crews will be working on the remaining repairs to restore small pockets of outages in the largely rural and hard to access areas in the Shuswap area and outside of Kamloops. The forecast calls for more snow today and tomorrow, and we’re asking customers to prepare for the possibility of more outages. We appreciate your patience as we continue our work to restore power.”
