Major changes for Coldstream road

Dec 23, 2019 | 10:15 PM

The District of Coldstream hopes to move forward with a major realignment of Kidston Road next year, in order to make it safer for cyclists and other traffic.

Chief Administrative Officer Trevor Seibel says the project looks to shift the road to the west and closer to the lake, right by the red gate at Kal Lake Provincial Park.

The district had to win BC Parks approval before detailed design work began.

“The plan is to construct a proper parking area in order to make it safer for the park users and the traffic on the road,” explains Seibel. “BC Parks approval was needed as we plan to use approximately 430 square meters inside the park for the parking lot.”

Seibel says design work on the $430,000 project is underway.

He advises however that the final go-ahead depends on the district’s financial resources.

“The budget is subject to change. It will be confirmed once the detailed design is complete and will be included in the 2020 Financial Plan.”
