Fire crews hose down reported blaze

Vernon fire crews hosed down a portion of the grass adjacent to Galaxy Cinemas Monday evening after several reports of a fire.

Crews were dispatched to the area near highway 6 and the Polson place Mall at approximately 6.p.m. Monday.

There was a report of a loud bang that was heard outside the theatre.

Firefighters from Station 1 and 2 responded to a small bush fire in the area behind Polson Place Mall. The fire appears to have been mostly extinguished by bystanders before VFRS arrived,” said Christy Poirer, city of Vernon manager of communications and grants.
