The new People’s Party of Canada has announced the candidate who will run in the North Okanagan-Shuswap riding in this upcoming federal election.

Kyle Delfing, described as a local entrepreneur who owns Hugo’s Moving, was elected at a weekend nomination contest where approximately 40 members cast ballots.

Delfing ran against Vernon resident Ian Tribes.

A release says Delfing’s campaign will be “issues focussed” ahead of October’s election.

The People’s Party is led by former Conservative MP Maxime Bernier who left the Tories last August to form his own right wing political party.

In 2017, Bernier ran for the leadership of the federal Conservatives but lost to Andrew Scheer.
