The BC Wildfire Service now lists the suspected cause as lightning.

B.C. is quickly drying out this spring — ramping up the risk of wildfires.

The B.C. Wildfire Service is reporting a small wildfire in the Six Mile Creek area northwest of Falkland.

It is listed as spot sized or one-tenth of a hectare, and believed to be human caused.

There is currently 30 active fires in B.C., with nine of those starting in the last couple days.

The conditions have led to the Wildfire Service implementing a ban on open burning in the Coastal fire centre starting Thursday.

Open fires are already banned in the Cariboo, Prince George and Northwest fire centres and campfires were banned last week in a section of the Northwest centre, but are still allowed everywhere else.
