The North Okanagan Shuswap School Board has approved new policy covering the pay and expenses for trustees.

The chairperson of the five member District 83 board will be paid $16,500 a year, while the vice chair will receive $15,000.

Trustees will each get $13,500.

Trustees in rural zones will receive between 250 and 500 dollars for their extra travel expenses, which is actually lower than previous.

“In recognition of the additional travel required of trustees responsible for the rural zones there will be $250 for North Shuswap, Sorrento and Carlin, and $500 each for the trustee in the area of Sicamous, Malakwa, Enderby and Grindrod and for the area of Armstrong, Spallmcheen, Falkland, Silver Creek and Ranchero,” says a release from School District 83. “Originally it was set at $500 for the first and $1,000 for the other two areas but trustees decided to lower the amount.”
