NHL’ers Back For Charity Event

Apr 10, 2019 | 2:30 PM

Carey Price, Shea Weber, Luke Schenn, and Brendan Gallagher will be among the NHL’ers at the 2nd annual Homebase Charity Slo Pitch event June 28th and 29th in Kelowna to raise money for JoeAnna’s House.

The event hosted by former Rockets Josh Gorges and Blake Comeau is put on by the KGH Foundationwoithj presenting sponsor Raymond James Ltd., and raised $117,000 for the facility last year.

“We couldn’t be more excited to be back,” says Gorges, recently retired NHL player (Buffalo, Montreal). “This city has given me so much, I’m just thrilled to give something in return. And to have fun with some friends and members of the community at the same time … it’s a win-win.”

Comeau (Dallas Stars), who set the home run record during the all-star match last year, agrees with Gorges. “It’s a great group of guys, to come together with our families in support of others who are in a tough place – I’m happy I have an opportunity to help out.”

JoeAnna’s House is under construction and is expected to open later this year.

“When open, it will be a much-needed home away from home for the thousands of families each year who travel for care of a loved one. Kelowna General Hospital is now the largest referral hospital, serving approximately 1 million residents in the BC interior,” says a news release.

Team registration is now open. For more information, visit www.kghfoundation.com/homebase.
