Vipers Drop Game 1 Against Smokies

Vipers Drop Game 1 Against Smokies

Mar 16, 2019 | 9:02 AM

The Vernon Vipers lost to the Trail Smoke Eaters, 3-1, Friday night at Kal Tire Place.

All scoring came in the third period of play, with the lone Viper goal coming from Ben Sanderson, assisted by Landon Fuller. The Smoke Eaters scored two unanswered goals, and an empty-netter to wrap up the game.

Vipers head coach, Mark Ferner, was understandably displeased with his team’s performance , saying the team got away from playing “Blue Collar hockey” and that cost them the game. Ferner’s post game interview can be heard here:

Vipers lost by 2 goals in game 1 of their series against the Salmon Arm Silverbacks,  then went on to win four games in a row. The Vipers will look to create a winning pattern in game 2 against the Smoke Eaters, 7pm Saturday night, at Kal Tire Place.
