Sports Club Seeks Help From City

The North Valley Gymnastics Society is looking to land a grant from the City of Vernon.

The club, which says it has over 600 kids registered, has requested $75,000, and will also be seeking funding from the District of Coldstream.

The Regional District of North Okanagan provided a grant of $17,250 last September.

Board member Paul Williamson says the non profit group is looking to use the money for its new gym at 4700 31st Street, which is 90% complete, and to pay off creditors after cost overruns.

“We have taken on a $ 1.2 million mortgage with Vantage One Credit Union. We still have approximately $124,000 in debt over and above the mortgage. We will continue to pursue community, foundation and gaming grants to cover the remaining debt,” says Williamson in his presentation.
