Vipers Win Headed Into Teddy Bear Toss

Vipers Win Headed Into Teddy Bear Toss

Dec 1, 2018 | 9:07 AM

The Vernon Vipers worked hard for a 3-2 win over the Merritt Centennials Friday night at Kal Tire Place.

Scoring for the Vipers came from Connor Marritt, Matt Kowalski, and Alex Swetlikoff with assists from Teddy Wooding, Jesse Lansdell, Jagger Williamson, and Elan Bar lev wise. Vipers outshot the Centennials 29-22, and had stronger special teams as well. Vipers went one for four on the power play (compared to the Centennials 1/7) and successfully killed off an important five on three penalty situation early in the third period.

Head Coach Mark Ferner says he wishes his team would shoot the puck more, but felt they played well defensively overall and “didn’t give up too, too much.” Ferner’s full post game interview can be heard by clicking below.

Saturday night Vipers host the Wenatchee Wild for the annual Teddy Bear Toss game. Bring a new or gently used stuffie to the game, and when Vernon scores its first goal, toss it on the ice. All stuffies collected will be donated to the Beach Radio Santa Toy Club.
