After what could have been a very rocky start, the Vernon Vipers doubled up the West Kelowna Warriors in a 6-3 final, Friday night.

Warriors opened the scoring within the first minute of the first period, but it wasn’t enough to set the Vipers back on their heels. Josh Latta responded two and half minutes later with a goal from Alex Swetlikoff. Latta ended the game with two goals and the game’s second star. Additional Viper scoring came from defenceman Brandan Kim, who scored the first and second goals of his BCHL career, and picked up the game’s first star. Garrett Worth scored an unassisted goal, and Matt Kowalski picked up a goal and the game’s 3rd star.

In the post game interview, Vipers Head Coach, Mark Ferner said “we needed this win, no question about it … We asked our players to play inside the dots, get pucks in the net, and go there … and as it turns out we were able to put six up on the board tonight.” Listen to the full interview here:

Next action for the Vipers is Sunday afternoon, 2 PM at Kal Tire Place, as they host the Victoria Grizzlies.
