Vipers Penalty Kill Costs the Game

Vipers Penalty Kill Costs the Game

Nov 10, 2018 | 8:37 AM

Special teams made the difference in the outcome last night as the Vernon Vipers were defeated 4-3 by the Merritt Centenials. Merritt went 3/5 on the power play while Vernon went 0/6.

Despite heavily outshooting the centennials, 45-27, the Vipers offensive opportunities were not strong enough to overcome their fledgling penalty kill.

Head Coach of the Vipers, Mark Ferner says the team generated enough offence, but they just need to find ways to win. The full post game interview:

Scoring for the Vipers came from Ben Helgeson, Sebastian Streu, and Teddy Wooding – who also picked up Third Star in the game. Assists went to Ben Sanderson, Colton Bilodeau, and Teddy Wooding.

With Friday night’s loss, the Vipers’ record slides to 8-7-5 and 2, which puts them 6th in the interior division. Saturday night the Vipers are on the road in Salmon Arm to battle the Silverbacks who they lost to in overtime, last they met.

Game time is 7pm, and we’ll have all the action beginning at 6:45 on 1075 Beach Radio.
