The Vernon Vipers have lost one of their veteran forwards.

18 year old Josh Prokop has decided to join the Calgary Hitmen of the Western Hockey League.

He scored 21 goals last season, his first with the Vipers, while this season, he had a goal and four assists in five games.

“The Vipers would like to wish Josh all the best in the future,” says a release on the Vipers website.

Prokop’s younger brother Luke plays for the Hitmen.

The 5-foot-10, 174-pound forward from Edmonton, Alta. is expected to be on the ice at the Hitmen’s practice this afternoon.

“Josh is a highly skilled right winger who sees the ice very well,” says Hitmen General Manager Jeff Chynoweth.  “He is both a shooter and a playmaker who gives us another forward that can play in our top six.”

The Hitmen acquired the rights to Prokop last season in a trade with the Swift Current Broncos.
