Vipers Fall To Division Leaders

It was another win one, lose one weekend for the Vernon Vipers in the BC Hockey League.

A night after defeating the West Kelowna Warriors 4-3 on two goals from Josh Latta, the Vipers lost 3-1 to the visiting Trail Smoke Eaters Saturday at Kal Tire Place.

Trail scored three straight goals in the second period to erase a 1-0 deficit, with Jeremy Smith collecting a goal and 1 assist as the Smoke Easters improved to 3-0-1-0 to lead the Interior Division with 7 points.

Alex Switlikoff got the lone goal for the Snakes.

The Vipers have 2 wins and 2 losses heading into the annual Bauer Showcase in Chilliwack this week, with Vernon against Nanaimo Sep. 20.

Similar sized crowds took in the two games at Kal Tire Place with 1,962 Friday and 1,913 Saturday night.

Elsewhere Saturday, Merritt defeated Salmon Arm 5-2 and Wenatchee beat West Kelowna 4-1. Penticton fell 4-3 in Victoria.
