Raymond scores two, Red Wings smother Canucks for 5-2 win
VANCOUVER — Lucas Raymond scored twice and contributed an assist and the Detroit Red Wings downed the beleaguered Vancouver Canucks 5-2 on Thursday.
The result stretched Vancouver’s losing skid to nine games, with the Canucks (2-9-1) earning a single point across the stretch.
William Wallinder, Michael Rasmussen and Emmitt Finnie also scored for the Red Wings (4-3-3), while Victor Arvidsson and Michael Brandsegg-Nygard each had a pair of helpers.
John Gibson stopped four of the five shots he faced in the Detroit net before leaving the game with an upper-body injury. He was replaced by Michal Postava to start the third period and the Czech netminder logged seven stops in his NHL debut.
