‘Residents first’: West K council candidate

Oct 8, 2026 | 10:16 AM

A candidate for West Kelowna City Council promises to bring what he calls a residents-first approach.

On his campaign website Chris Moyer said as a father, volunteer hockey coach, business leader and West Kelowna resident, he is ready to bring practical judgment and a strong work ethic to the table.

Moyer said he isn’t running because he believes he has all the answers but “…because he believes local government should listen, be accountable, and focus on practical solutions that improve everyday life for residents.”

“City Hall exists to serve the people who live and work here. Chris will listen to residents, remain accessible and judge decisions by whether they improve life in West Kelowna. Residents should never feel like they come second in their own city. Residents first.”

Regarding safer streets and public safety Moyer said many of these issues require action from senior levels of government, and he will support strong bylaw enforcement and a visible RCMP presence locally, while advocating to and working with the provincial and federal governments to improve access to treatment, recovery and mental health services.

“West Kelowna’s parks, streets and public spaces should be clean, safe and welcoming for everyone.”

Another priority is safe pedestrian access and traffic congestion. He said he will push for practical road and sidewalk improvements within city control, alongside stronger advocacy with senior governments on the bridge and regional transportation.
