Three Rockets return from NHL camps ahead of WHL season opener

The Kelowna Rockets are getting three players back from NHL camps ahead of the start of the WHL season.

Defenceman Peyton Kettles, goaltender Harrison Boettiger and forward Jakub Frolo have returned after attending camps with the Pittsburgh Penguins, Washington Capitals and Carolina Hurricanes, respectively. All three are expected to be available Saturday when the Rockets open the season against the Vancouver Giants.

Kettles, 19, was selected 39th overall by Pittsburgh in the 2025 NHL Draft and appeared in three regular-season games with Kelowna last season before playing all three of the Rockets’ games at the Memorial Cup.

Boettiger, 18, went 25-10-5 (W-L-OTL) with a 2.83 goals-against average and .911 save percentage in 41 regular-season appearances last season.

Frolo, 18, is entering his first WHL season after recording 40 points in 37 games with Ilves U20 in Finland. The Czech forward was selected by Kelowna in the 2026 CHL Import Draft.

The Rockets also signed 16-year-old Kelowna forward Von Lakovic to a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement. Lakovic had 42 points in 33 games with the Okanagan Rockets U18 AAA team last season and 18 points in six playoff games.

Kelowna opens its home schedule Sept. 26 against the Penticton Vees.
