Seeking Re-election

Singh announces bid for sixth term on Kelowna council

Aug 31, 2026 | 11:24 AM

Kelowna Coun. Mohini Singh is seeking another four-year term, announcing Sunday that she will run in the Oct. 17 municipal election.

Singh was first elected to council in 2011 and has spent the past 15 years representing Kelowna residents at city hall.

In announcing her campaign, Singh pointed to housing affordability, community safety, environmental protection and the local economy as key priorities she wants to continue working on.

She also highlighted the need to protect Okanagan lakes, agricultural land and natural areas as Kelowna continues to grow.

Singh said her decision to run again comes from a belief that residents need elected officials who are accessible and willing to work collaboratively on local issues.

The 2026 municipal election is scheduled for Oct. 17. Candidates for mayor, council and school trustee can file their nomination papers between Sept. 1 and Sept. 11 at 4 p.m.

Singh is among the candidates expected to compete for one of Kelowna’s council seats this fall.
