Spallumcheen Mayor looking for third term in office

The Mayor of Spallumcheen will have her name back on the ballot.

Christine Fraser announced she would be running to reclaim her seat in the fall municipal election.

“Spallumcheen is built on hard-working people who are very passionate and vocal about how they like things done,” Fraser said in an email to Vernon Matters.

“I respect that, and live by that philosophy, and that’s why I would be honoured to continue representing our community.”

The Mayoral candidate said she was committed to protecting the agricultural and rural character of Spallumcheen, maintaining infrastructure and services, and making thoughtful decisions that reflect the needs of residents.

“Our council has worked hard to bring programs and funding to our community, reduce red tape for residents, be fiscally responsible, and most importantly, listen to what’s important to the people of Spallumcheen,” Fraser said.

“We have a monthly coffee talk where we discuss ongoing projects or initiatives where residents can come and have an informal place to talk about issues that matter to them. It’s great to hear all the positive feedback from community members and also work through the tough issues.”

Fraser was first elected as Mayor in the 2018 election.

She will be seeking her third term in office when voters go to the voting booth for the Local General Election October 17.
