Police seeking information on suspicious Becker Park fire

Vernon RCMP have put out a call for information about a grass fire at a downtown park.

At around 9 a.m. Sunday, August 9, Vernon Fire Rescue responded to Becker Park for a grass fire.

Fire crews were able to quickly douse the flames.

However, the initial investigation found the fire was human caused, and believed to be suspicious in nature.

“We’re asking anyone who has information about this fire to please contact us so we can advance our investigation,” Constable Chris Terleski, Media Relations Officer for the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP, stated.
