Metro Vancouver bus operators reject tentative deal again, to begin job action

VANCOUVER — The union representing Metro Vancouver transit bus operators says its members have rejected a second tentative deal reached by negotiators.

Unifor says in a statement that union workers will begin job action on Aug. 17 by launching a ban on wearing uniforms, but no transit services will be disrupted.

The operator, Coast Mountain Bus Company, says in a statement that it is “committed to the collective bargaining process” in reaching a fair agreement, and no service disruptions are anticipated.

The two sides had reached the latest deal in late July for union Locals 111 and 2200, after a previous tentative agreement reached on June 22 was rejected.
