MONTREAL — The Montreal Canadiens signed forward Alexandre Texier to a two-year, US$5-million contract extension Wednesday.
Texier joined the Canadiens on a one-year, $1-million deal on Nov. 23 after the St. Louis Blues terminated his contract.
The 26-year-old from France has impressed in Montreal with seven goals and nine assists through 25 games, after registering just one assist in eight outings with the Blues.
Canadiens head coach Martin St. Louis recently moved Texier up to the team’s first line alongside Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield. He scored a hat trick in Montreal’s 6-2 win over the Florida Panthers on Jan. 8.
