JCI Vernon chosen beneficiary of Towne Theatre’s Thankful Thursday

A landmark Vernon venue is lending its support to a non-profit.

The Junior Chamber International Vernon branch (JCI Vernon) has been selected as the recipient of the Towne Theatre’s Thankful Thursday event in June.

The non-profit will receive 100 per cent of the box office proceeds collected on the second Thursday of the month, which is June 13.

The original Jurassic Park film will be shown for Thankful Thursday this month.

JCI Vernon is a group dedicated to supporting young professionals in the community.

“In JCI, we’re working to develop young leaders while supporting our community. We meet each month to offer career and personal skill development, or opportunities to create and run charitable events like the Lawn Days of Summer lawn bowling tournament,” JCI Vernon Chapter President, Michael Isobe, said.

“We’re also a social club, and I’ve made many friends in JCI over the years. We’re honoured to have been chosen for this event. The chapter voted and I’m excited to see Jurassic Park on the big screen with the Towne’s new sound system.”

The theatre’s Thankful Thursday initiative is sponsored by Watkin Motors Ford, which sponsors the nights by fronting the entire cost of the movie so the non-profits can generate as much money as possible.
