The province is undertaking numerous highway improvements throughout the Interior, including in the North Okanagan.

The B.C. government says work is underway to upgrade 482 kilometres of highways and side roads in the region.

Included in the projects is resurfacing of a 52 kilometre stretch of Highway 97 from Swan Lake, north of Vernon, to Hanna Rd., near Westwold. This work will involve resurfacing using hot in-place recycled asphalt.

Other area projects include conventional resurfacing of 25 kilometres of Cherryville area side roads; and conventional resurfacing of 15 kms of Highway 1 to four-lane near Revelstoke.

The local projects are part of 18 being undertaken in the Interior. The province has committed $112-million towards the rehabilitation of the 482 kms of roadways.

Motorists are reminded to follow all traffic control measures and slow down and be cautious in work zones. Updates on road projects, including delays and detours, will be posted to DriveBC.
