Celtic and rock bands lined up for Winter Carnival concert

Nov 6, 2023 | 12:27 PM

Concert goers will get two bands for the price of one at a Vernon Winter Carnival event in 2024.

The carnival society has announced a return of its Snowglobe Concert featuring the Dirt Road Kings and Cod Gone Wild. The bands will perform at the Vernon Recreation Centre on Saturday, Feb. 3 at 7 p.m.

The society said the bands are known for their high-energy performances and their ability to turn any event into a party.

“Dirt Road Kings will take the stage with their electrifying blend of rock and classic tunes that will have you on your feet in no time,” the society said. “Their incredible musicianship and showmanship will transport you to a world of music where classic hits are brought to life like never before.”

“Cod Gone Wild, on the other hand, brings a unique twist to the evening with their folky and Celtic-inspired sound. This talented group of musicians will infuse the concert with a vibrant, foot-stomping energy that will have the audience fully engaged in a mesmerizing musical journey.” (Winter Carnival Society)

The concert will be open to those aged 19 and over. Tickets are on sale for $35 with details at vernonwintercarnival.com.

The 2023 Snowglobe Concert featured The Reklaws and was held at Kal Tire Place last February, which led to the carnival society expressing concerns about the $27,000 they had to pay the City of Vernon for rent and other fees to host the event as a non-profit group.
