The Kal Tire Kalamalka Bowl is less than a month away and football fans are encouraged to not fumble their chance to get tickets.

The exhibition game on Aug. 23 at the Greater Vernon Athletics Park will see the University of B.C. Thunderbirds take on the University of Alberta Golden Bears in the second annual event at the facility in Coldstream.

The Thunderbirds won last year’s inaugural matchup against the University of Calgary Dinos 28-7 with more than 2,000 fans on hand.

Game tickets are on sale through Eventbrite which can be accessed through kalbowl.com

Assigned bleacher seating is $30 a ticket, while general admission is $12 which allows access to the game without seating

Meantime, a former B.C. Lions all-star will speak to the team members prior to the game.

Angus Reid, who moved to Coldstream to raise his family after a 13-year career in the Canadian Football League, will be the keynote speaker at a pre-game breakfast at the UBC Okanagan campus – “The Breakfast with Angus” on Aug. 23.

“While working remotely with Reliance Insurance, Angus also travels the world as a highly sought-after motivational speaker for high school, university, and professional sports teams as well as companies of all sizes looking to build a winning team culture,” a news release stated. “In addition, Angus finds time to assistant coach the Vernon Secondary School football team.”

The 46-year-old Reid was an offensive lineman who won two Grey Cups with the Lions, and was a CFL All Star in 2011 and a CFL West all-star three times.

“It’s a great privilege and honour to be able to share experiences I’ve had and wisdom I’ve gained over a lifetime in football with these college athletes,” Reid said on his website. “To share the things I’ve learned that really matter; the stuff that lasts far after their final play and translates to the rest of their lives.”
