Multi-Use Pathway

Construction to begin on Silver Star Road pathway

Feb 22, 2022 | 4:05 PM

Work on the new multi-use pathway along Silver Star Road in Vernon is set to begin in the coming week.

The path is being built in two phases. The first will see construction go from Blackcomb Way to BX Elementary School, and from Pleasant Valley Road to the New Silver Star Gateway Business Park. New streetlights and pedestrian signals will also be installed.

Phase two will see the sections connected. A time line for that work has not been established yet.

Once completed, the pathway will extend between the Foothills and Pleasant Valley Road.

Crews will be clearing trees and shrubs in the road right of way in preparation for construction, and though the city said efforts will be made to minimize the disruptions the work creates, motorists in the area should expect some minor delays.

The first phase of the multi-use path is expected to be done by October, with work adjacent to BX Elementary School to be done over the summer break.

The city asks all road users to follow all posted signs and traffic control measures and to slow down in work zones.
