NONA Lights for Kids

Christmas light spectacle

Dec 8, 2021 | 8:16 AM

The NONA Child Development Centre is introducing a new
annual fundraiser, The NONA Lights for Kids event in partnership with the John Christmas Light
Tour!

Join us on Saturday, December 18 for the Fill the Stockings event

Visit NONA with your family between 4 pm and 6 pm for our Fill the Stockings event where we will be collecting cash donations. Come by to view the installation, say ‘Hi’ to Santa, and get a special surprise for the kids!

From December 4th to December 31 the NONA downtown buildings will be decked out for Christmas. The community can view the lights and decor, designed by local artist and long-time NONA supporter, Nancy Wilde, every day from 5 pm – 9 pm. With a large group of volunteers NONA’s playground will be transformed into a reindeer park, the large glass meeting room overlooking the parking lot will be Santa’s new workshop and there will be many lights and twinkles all around.

‘’We are excited to join the John Christmas Light Tour and add-on to this community event. There are so many beautifully decorated homes in Vernon that participate in this event, and NONA is looking forward to adding on to this and making something special for the children in our community.” says Helen Armstrong, Executive Director at NONA.

The COVID-19 pandemic has made a huge impact on the charity. NONA is immensely grateful for the support it has received from the government during the pandemic, without this NONAs doors would not be open today. However, this support only takes NONA so far and they need your support, the support from our community, to continue to provide their services to children with special needs.

Keep an eye out for the NONA’s wish list that’s incorporated into the design, as NONA struggles with additional Covid-19 expenses NONA also needs updated technology and pediatric equipment – to name a few of the more critical needs which are not covered in any general funding. Donations can be made at www.nona-cdc.com.
