Update

1,130 new COVID-19 cases over two days in B.C.

British Columbia continues to average more than 500 new COVID-19 cases a day.

Dr. Bonnie Henry, provincial health officer, announced 1,130 cases on Thursday.

That covers the two day period since Tuesday, with 536 from Tuesday to Wednesday, and 594 from Wednesday to Thursday.

The totals were once again led by Fraser Health with 808 cases, with Vancouver Coastal at 249, Island Health with 16 new cases, 34 in Interior Health and 23 in Northern Health.

Four more people died of COVID-19 for a total of 288, three in long-term care homes and one elderly person in the community.

The province’s total cases are now at 20,368.

There now 5,793 active cases, with 155 people in hospital, 44 in critical or intensive care.

Currently, 11,091 people are being monitored for COVID, while 14,089 have recovered.

There are six new health care facility outbreaks, for a total of 41 active.

New figures show Vernon has had 43 COVID-19 cases since the start of the pandemic.

Armstrong-Spallumcheen, combined, have had 5, with 5 as well in Enderby, while Kelowna and the Central Okanagan have had 409 cases.

Interior Health has confirmed one case of Covid-19 at Mission Hill Elementary and contact tracing is ongoing.
