Oct 15, 2020 | 3:35 PM

B.C. is reporting 142 new cases of COVID-19 today, raising the provincial total to 11,034.

Two of the new cases are in Interior Health (IH).

There is also a new community outbreak in IH, at the FedEx office at the Kelowna Airport, with three cases of COVID among staff members and six employees isolating at home.

“Public health teams are on site and are working with the business and contact tracing is underway. There is no risk to people picking up packages,” said Dr. Bonnie Henry, provincial health officer.

Interior Health said the business has sufficient precautions in place to prevent COVID-19 transmission to the public, and there has been no COVID exposure to the general public.

“The business is not directly connected to the airport and no exposures have occurred from FedEx staff to airport workers,” stated the health agency.

There are now 1,474 active cases in B.C., with 74 people in hospital and 24 in critical or intensive care.

There are no new COVID-related deaths (total still at 250).

A total of 3,683 people under under active monitoring, and 9,257 people have recovered from the virus.

Dr. Henry said 9,016 COVID lab tests were performed Wednesday, and with the 142 new cases, that’s a positive rate of 1.5 per cent

There are no new health care outbreaks.
