Video gets message out about downtown Vernon

Jul 27, 2020 | 2:24 PM

An upbeat video is part of a campaign to bring people back to downtown Vernon.

The Downtown Vernon Association (DVA) has released the Open With Care video that features about 20 of the more than 500 businesses in the downtown.

“We want people to realize that Downtown Vernon has grown into a bright, fun and welcoming destination to come and eat, shop, play and discover,” DVA events and promotions coordinator Heather Sharpe told Vernon Matters.

The video is a production of Sproing Creative, a DVA member.

Sharpe said merchants are starting to see more activity with summer weather now here and with people adjusting to COVID-19 safety measures.

“Yes, business is definitely picking up and increased local and regional visitors are helping,” she said.

Safety is a big part of the campaign, and the DVA’s member businesses have been creating safe and inviting spaces for their employees and guests by:

  • Adhering to WorkSafe BC protocols and orders from the Public Health Officer;
  • Using the resources available to help them to #OpenWithCare; and
  • Helping to share consistent and reliable messaging regarding COVID-19.

The #OpenWithCare campaign provides messaging through enhanced media, door signage and support materials to help businesses demonstrate that they have made the #OpenWithCare commitment.

The province-wide campaign was created to help guests and visitors feel confident and safe in returning to their favourite local businesses and discovering some new favourites.
