Event raises pet food and funds for pet owners in need

Jul 24, 2020 | 10:29 AM

Dogs and cats need to eat too, and with that in mind, the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP is getting on board with an initiative to make sure Bowser and Scruffy don’t go hungry.

Local Mounties are joining forces with the Salvation Army and Healthy Spot Pet Nutrition and Supply to Cram the Cruiser in support of the Pet Soup Kitchen.

“While the local food bank run by the Salvation Army provides grocery assistance to those in need, the Pet Soup Kitchen helps with pet food and other pet supplies,” said Cpl.Tania Finn, RCMP spokesperson.

The event will take place on Tuesday July 28 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot of Healthy Spot Pet Nutrition & Supply, 3115 48th Avenue, Vernon.

The RCMP’s police dog service handlers will be on hand to meet the public.

Any donation of pet food and supplies will be appreciated. All donations will go to the Salvation Army to distribute to people who struggle to feed their pets.
