Vernon physiotherapist to be sentenced in August

A Vernon physiotherapist who pleaded guilty to nine counts of sexual assault last year is expected to be handed down his sentence in B.C. provincial court on August 12.

Stephen Witvoet, 47, was convicted last fall but the COVID-19 virus and the subsequent rules put in place are believed to have delayed proceedings — as has happened in many court cases in B.C.

Witvoet entered guilty pleas on Oct. 28, 2019 to nine counts of sexual assault involving female patients at his Thrive Physiotherapy clinic between 2009 and 2016.
