Tear gas used in Enderby standoff
North Okanagan RCMP say a male suspect was taken into custody in Enderby Saturday night after tear gas when he failed to surrender.
Police have identified him as 36-year-old Alex Boucher who had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.
RCMP confirm a large police presence at an apartment building on the 700 block of Cliff Avenue around 9 p.m. after a report that “unwanted male” had entered the building.
RCMP spokesperson Const. Kelly Brett said Boucher is well-known to police and was allegedly hiding in a particular unit of the building and failed to respond to police commands to surrender.
