Council declines road paint request from Fulton graduates
While Vernon council permitted Vernon Secondary graduates to paint Suicide Hill, they did not approve the request from Fulton Secondary graduates who wanted to paint a busier street outside their high school.
City staff advised councillors that Fulton Road is busy with vehicles and recommended the request be rejected.
“We indicated that’s not possible,” Mayor Victor Cumming said after Monday’s council meeting. “It’s a high volume road. We need to close it if we’re going to paint it and then we need to remove the paint if people are going to drive on it.”
The move comes two weeks after council approved the Vernon Secondary request. In that request, Suicide Hill was closed.
