Public gets say on Civic Arena park

Jun 22, 2020 | 5:15 AM

Plans to turn the former Civic Arena site into a city park are back in action after a brief pause due to the Covid outbreak.

The city says public input is being gathered on design concepts.

“Public engagement paused due to Covid-19, however a survey has been launched to gather input on design concepts and will be live until early July,” said a staff update to council.

Detailed design will take place over the summer and site preparation could begin by this fall.

Construction will be limited by the completion of the 30 Street connector project, which has been delayed due to railroad crossing construction issues.

The 80-year-old Civic Arena was torn down in November 2018.
