Burning bans in place
Local bylaws trump provincial lifting of burning ban

While the province lifted its ban on category 2 fires in the Kamloops Fire Centre as of noon today, that doesn’t mean open burning is allowed in all municipalities.
Spallumcheen and Armstrong have issued an advisory noting open burning is currently not permitted in either jurisdiction.
“This [provincial] change does not apply to areas with local bylaws that prohibit open burning,” said fire chief Ian Cummings.
- There is no open burning permitted within the City of Armstrong.
- There will be no open burning within the Township of Spallumcheen. The Township’s bylaw advises open burning may commence November 1, 2020; however, this is contingent on the Covid-19 directives from the medical health officer or other restrictions issued by the provincial government.
