One person taken to hospital after six-vehicle crash

Six vehicles were involved in a rear-end chain reaction incident on Hospital Hill in Vernon Wednesday afternoon.

The incident happened around 3:30 p.m. on 32nd Street (Hwy 97) near 16th Avenue.

“No extrication was required to get anyone out of vehicles, but firefighters did need to take care of debris and fluids on the roadway,” said Christy Poirier, communications manager with the City of Vernon.

“While emergency responders were on scene, the highway was down to single lane traffic in both directions, and northbound traffic was backed up to the College Way area,” Poirier added.
