The first-term mayor said the big story in B.C. this week about the plans to reopen the economy was “good news.” The strategy will be rolled-out in phases over the next few months.

“The steps will be slow and deliberate,” Cumming said. “We must follow the thoughtful approach laid out by our Provincial Health Officer so we don’t unravel all the good work we’ve done.”

“So this Mother’s Day, we will continue to keep our distances but we will also say ‘thank you.’ Mothers, we appreciate and honour you, and continue to stand alongside you, as we all take the necessary steps to protect each other’s health and safety as we move forward together,” Cumming said.
