Cozy Camp-In set for long weekend

May 7, 2020 | 5:31 PM

Campgrounds and RV parks might be closed, but that won’t stop Armstrong and Spalumcheen residents from having some fun over the Victoria Day long weekend.

The Armstrong-Spallumcheen Chamber of Commerce is promoting the first ever ‘Cozy Camp In’ where residents can pitch a tent in their backyards and network with their neighbors — at the proper distance — over the fence.

“Support local by picking up your camping supplies at businesses in Armstrong and Spallumcheen, then set up your camping gear in the yard, your RV or glamp-it in the house,” said Patti Noonan, Executive Director, Armstrong Spallumcheen Chamber of Commerce & Visitor Centre.

Participants are asked to get creative, and submit a photo of their campsite to win a prize for the ‘Most Creative Campsite.’

How about trying different types of camping food?

“How do you combine “roughing it” with some real yum — think grilled asparagus pizza, bush pies and upscale banana boats. There’s a contest for that too!,” said Noonan.

The contest closes 3 p.m. (PST) on Monday, May 18.

“Follow us on Instagram and the Facebook event page to find out more. Sponsors, rules and how to win prizes will be posted there. Don’t forget to tag @tourismarmstrong #cozycampin on your posts.”
