Team Canada wins medal at World Cup; Hill in 8th

Big day for Team Canada in the fog at Big White.

Eighteen-year old Eliot Grodin of Sainte-Marie, Que., took the silver medal in the men’s snowboard cross race Saturday at the 2020 FIS Snowboard Barrels and Berms SBX World Cup at the Kelowna resort.

“In what was easily one of the most – if not the most exciting day on hill for the Canadian National team of the season, Eliot Grondin made history by capturing the silver medal at the 2020 FIS Snowboard Barrels and Berms SBX World Cup,” said a tweet from the Canadian Snowboard team.

‘I’m pretty stoked about it, every race gets better,’ said Grondin.

Veteran racer Omar Visintin, 30, of Italy won the men’s race.

Kevin Hill, 33, of Vernon gave it his best with friends and family on hand, coming in 8th overall.

“Really proud of this guy, first podium for baby Gucci (Grondin) today and 8th place for me. Can’t wait to race again and get some tomorrow.Thanks to everyone who came out to support us today@ Big White Ski Resort,” said Kevin Hill on Twitter.
