Armstrong Draft Master Water Plan In Place

Sep 5, 2017 | 5:50 AM

Armstrong Council has accepted the final draft of a new Master Water Plan for the city.

Mayor Chris Pieper says staff will organize a workshop to renew the plan that has been in the works for a couple of years.

“It goes through the analysis of of all of our supply, of our infrastructure and so forth. A very important document with the expansion of Armstrong going ahead.”

Pieper says the plan has a long term focus and will be updated as needed.

“As far as growth in our community and where we go for planning and for subdivisions and supplying water to ourselves as well as the water districts in Spall that we currently supply water to.”

Water availability over the next couple of decades will be a major focus.

“There’s no water supply that’s ever endless. Most of our water comes from Fortune Creek and we have two backup wells that we have when we have water that’s turbid and when we get long drought seasons when the wells kick in.”

Right now the wells are being run part time, supplemented with Fortune Creek water.
