Delay Possible For Marshall Field Pickleball Courts

Damage from wildfires around BC is impacting the construction of a new sports facility in Vernon.

The Vernon Pickleball Club is looking to start building a 12 court facility at Marshal Field.

Club member Don Friesen –who will build the new courts — says they are waiting for an engineer’s geo-technical report on the site, and BC Hydro will also be needed to move a power line.

“The reality is getting hydro work done could be held up as well because a lot of hydro teams are out working on fire repairs,” says Friesen.

Friesen says if he can’t get started on the building by mid September, it may have to be put off until the spring.

Friesen says once he can start, it will take him about six weeks to build the basic structure.

The club and Regional District of North Okanagan will be splitting the 600-thousand dollar cost.
