Hurricane Floyd Mauls McGregor

Aug 27, 2017 | 8:10 AM

Floyd Mayweather Junior is still undefeated. The five-division world champion boxer stopped U-F-C star Conor McGregor on his feet in the 10th round last night to end the boxing spectacle of the summer.

Mayweather brutalized McGregor in the 10th, chasing him around the ring until the referee saved the Irishman by stopping the fight.

CBC Sports quotes…”He’s a lot better than I thought he was,” Mayweather said. “He used different angles. He was a tough competitor, but I was the better man tonight.

Mayweather, who officially announced his retirement after the fight, was true to his prediction throughout the fight’s build when he promised it wouldn’t go the distance.

He also stuck to his guns about standing in front of McGregor looking for a finish.

McGregor was consistently beaking off in Mayweather’s grill in press conferences and any promotional interactions…but it was Mayweather’s gloves that eventually did all his talking.

As far as the ‘Show Me The Money’ moment… Dan Rafael of ESPN.com added more details Saturday, noting Mayweather’s guaranteed purse was $100 million, while McGregor’s minimum purse was $30 million.

However, he clarified McGregor would likely make more than $100 million because of his portion of the promotion and said Mayweather could see “well in excess of $200 million” because of his share.

Not bad for a night’s work. That laughing you heard last night well after the match…was both combatants on the way to their banks.
