Starbucks Expands In Vernon

Aug 24, 2017 | 6:18 AM

Starbucks will be increasing its presence in Vernon.

City officials confirm the US coffee giant is opening a new outlet in the former Carl’s Junior site on 32nd Street.

Mayor Akbal Mund says it’s a great site, with a lot of office workers in that area, including from the City.

“The big thing about that is you’ve got 300 people working right here (city hall area). Then you’ve got Tolko and others within walking distance of that site,” says Mund.

It will be the city’s 6th Starbucks, and is expected to open in the next couple months.

“They have to renovate the whole thing because it was a fast food place before that, so all the hoods and things, they don’t need that, and they have to pull out everything,” says Mund, a former owner of Wendy’s Restaurants.

Carl’s Junior closed its Vernon outlet in the 3800 block of 32nd Street (Highway 97) in October 2016.
