Armstrong Upgrades Waste Water Equipment

Jul 26, 2017 | 6:46 AM

The City of Armstrong is investing into its sewer system, to keep it running efficiently.

Mayor Chris Pieper says at a special meeting, council has approved 85 thousand dollars for a new back-up generator.

“If the power goes down in town, we have to have our waste management system working, so this is very important to our sewer system,” Pieper tells Kiss FM.

The mayor says the old generator is likely 40 years old.

“It’s an item we’ve been working on a for a few years.”

The contract has been awarded to Harrison Industrial Contracting.

Council has also approved 35-thousand dollars for a new headworks screen, to replace one that is worn out.

“That’s in the preliminary screening of the sewage effluent that comes into our station downtown,” adds Pieper.

ISL Engineering has been awarded that contract.
