MP Ready To Help With Flood Threat

May 16, 2017 | 10:47 AM

North Okanagan-Shuswap Conservative MP Mel Arnold says he’s impressed with how the region has coped with the flood threat.

Arnold toured the area on the weekend, in particular, Lumby.

“Lumby’s doing a great job up there with their emergency operations centre. They’ve got great volunteers doing an incredible job and even coming in from outside communities, but the high water isn’t over yet.”

He says if the time comes that federal help is required, he’s ready to act

“Channels of communication are open to my office if we need any further assistance here in Ottawa I’ll be ready to step forward to them”

Typically, the provincial government would step in first and then any requests for federal assistance would be made.
