Water Quality Advisory for Grindrod

May 12, 2017 | 6:17 AM

A Water Quality Advisory has been issued for people in the Grindrod area.

The Regional District of North Okanagan – Grindrod Water Utility issued the notice Thursday night as a precaution due to high turbidity and incomplete filtration because of the spring runoff.

The decision was made after discussions with Interior Health when it was discovered turbidity levels exceeded 1.0 NTU in the Grindrod water distribution system.

The water quality is now listed as fair, which means customers should be careful when drinking it.

Until the Water Quality Advisory is rescinded, the following customers should exercise caution when using water for consumption purposes:
• Young children
• Elderly
• People with weakened immune systems. (Customers who are unsure whether their immune system is compromised should discuss with a physician if they should always take these precautions).

For these customers, water intended for the following uses should be boiled for one minute:
• drinking
• preparing any food
• preparing infant formula
• washing fruits and vegetables
• making beverages or ice
• brushing teeth

Customers will be notified as conditions change. If you have any questions, please contact RDNO at 250-550-3700 or check the website at www.rdno.ca.
